To cut or not to cut??? This is the question

Hi guys , I am in a little bit of a delema . In the re fit of my Q45 in my shorty Patrol. I have managed to get the engine on a good angle, even the aircon sits in nicely . Everything fits in exept for the dam oil filter housing lol .
I can do either one of the following.....
take a small section out of the chassis to make it fit. We are talking a section of about 15 to 20 mm deep , 25 mm across and almost to the bottom section for safety . To do this I have cut a 10 mm thick /75mm tube steel section to weld in its place for strength.
Second option , it to make a plate with oil line fiiting to move oil filter and housing to another possition.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Regards EC

Don't cut your chassis, get/make a remote oil filter kit and use that.
Easier to do oil changes with a remote oil filter, and because of the piping (and if you make for a larger oil filter) you end up having more oil in your system which can only be good for the engine.

the housing that needs to be moved has the check valve ect.
What I would have to do , is make 2 plates to the shape of the gasket , fit fittings ether end , bolt one to the pump housing , the other to the block and run hp lines in bitween .
I am fairly confident it would work lol

N*A*M*'s "
She'll be right .... Trust me" Dictionary states that......
Self Clearance: the fitting of two mechanicle objects that interfere with each others independant form of operation, eventually gaining the minimal amout of clearance to again work as originally designed without the interferance from each other which caused the inital requirement of fitting the items that required a self clearance fitting in the first place.
in laymans terms......
bolt da sucker up n let it wear its way in.....or out as the case may be !
Then.......
you fit the remote unit .....
& this is what's known as .....
the correct way
N*A*M*'s "
She'll be right ........ Trust me" Dictionary states that......
correct way: item not found, unknown location, non existant interpretation, incorrect code for correct, possiable cause for lack of problems.....

You can also go to all of your local auto shops and find a filter that is shorter than original. The hot rod boys always do this to fit there clevos and so on in.

Yeah the two options are Shorter Filter - That has been mentioned, and you say is no good...
Or, Remote Filter Fitement, which is a big option with the Lexus fitting cowboys...

I didn't like this oprion. It is how the car was purchased and bottom end was shot due to the angle it was sitting on. So I optted to lower the engine into the engine bay for a better angle.
Thanks for the imput
