MK-MQ SWB frame swap - Diesel vs. Petrol

Hello. Please exuse me for a dumb question. Here is what I my mattes are planning to do: we've got running '85 SWB 33SD 5spd. Patrol with expired title and running '84 SWB L28 4spd. rusty body with good title/docs.

Here is a plan: to take out Diesel with transmission and x-case and use it on a project vehicle.

Then use Diesel SWB chassis for putting L28 Petrol running gear and keeping good Diesel body. So basically it's motor swap - Petrol into Deisel.

Are the frames the same? Motor/tranny mounts? Are Deisel lights 24V? Has anyone done so?

Thanks,
Andrey

engine mounts for diesel and petrol are in a different location and so are the gearbox mounts.

this is due to the longer length of the diesel motor.... also as one is 5 speed the gearbox mounts on the diesel will be further back again...

so ur drive shafts will need looking at length wise.....

most of the other stuff is all straight forward switch over apart from fuel system etc....

with regards to 24 volt.... u will need to change all the stuff over with the 12volt stuff from the L28 when u do the coversion if its got 2 batteries and a naturally asperated diesel..... it should be 24 volt....

allo globes, relays, motors etc have to be changed.

screwy, thanks for the reply.

i guess we'll be taking than just Deisel's rust free body and putting in on L28 frame then and stuffing all Petrol componenets into Diesel's body.

may be it will be easier to cut off L28 motor/tranny mounts and weld 'em on clean Diesel's frame?
i had to fabricate custom mounts for my other project - MK LWB frame with Z24 (Navara PU motor) and MK's 5 spd. transmission.

3.3 Diesel is going into RangeRover Classic  - my freind's trail monster.
