Hi there,
I have a friend is trying to find a tidy dual cab ute. He prefers a 2.8 diesel (like i got) but I was going to find out for him what kind of fuel consumption figures are people getting out of a 2.4 petrol hilux? Specially when you're on beach/sand driving as we do a lot of fishing. Are they pretty bulletproof like the 2.8? I've noticed they've been around forever so they must be alright? -Yumsy

the 22R is a strong motor that can last a long time but it is thirsty and underpowered. On the beach, depending how you drive, around 25litres/100km. On road, 13 - 16 litres/100km depending on highway/town, tyres, suspension and driving style.

My 2.4 petrol is slow and thirsty (thristier than me) highway drivin it sits on no more than 120ks and beach gets up to 110 floggen it and basically doubles fuel consumption!
