Hi all. Saw this on eBay the other night, and thought i'd bang it up here for all to see. Apparently it is a direct bolt-on replacement for the later series Warn high mount, but the earlier ones need a different drive gear (which can also be supplied at a cost).

No idea, i spose you could ask, but they probly wouldn't tell you anyway. I'd reckon they'd sell for over $1000 out of a shop though. Its a big motor for sure though... Will be interesting to see how much it goes for.

It's obviously cost him $699 or maybe even less; you could probably find out where he bought them from in the US and order your own.

I dont know what sort of margin 4x4 equipment business' put on their products, but i'd guess they would have picked it up for $500-$550. I suppose that it also depends on whether it was actually made IN america (good quality gear), or if it was made in the mexico area (cheap, nastyish).

I'm using the 24v version and in is far, far better than the 12v. The 12v runs cooler than the standard 4.6 or 6hp motors but no faster. The 24v is about 1/3 faster than the 4.6 but doesn't run anywhere near as hot. After winching for about 120m I can still touch the motor (for a short time). For $1000 you'll have change even with new 24v solenoids.

I know one of these motors let go in last weekends GC2000, unfortunately I don;t know all the details so don't take this as me calling it sh*t, only passing on that one failed. Can't tell you whether it was 12v, 24v, 12v running on 24v, nor can I say whether it burnt out, broke, drowned, etc. Maybe others who were there know more. Sounds like a powerful winch motor, but they run at very high rpm, I know I have been warned about my 6hp that they run at high rpm (half that of the 7.8hp) and you have to be careful going between forward and reverse, or vice versa.

I reckon that something letting loose inside the gearbox/armarture housing would make one hell of an awful mess. I reckon stay with the tried and tested.
