hi,

Had the truck up on a ramp a found the t bar collars seem to be broken. Not sure if the attached pic is clear enough. The steel collar seems to be unfolding from the bush.

can I clamp this back? with a huge jubliee clip or similar?
should I really replace the thing? if yes, is this a DIY job, and do I need to replace the whole mounting?

I did have an AA inspection before purchase but
this was not spotted.

any views? thanks in advance.

cheers,

I think I can see what's happened, and I don't think it's good.

I imagine that most of the time the bar is being pushed into the chassis rail, so it shouldn't be a huge issue; but I would think it should only rotate (and only during tbar adjustment - not with suspension flexing) and not move up and down.

Personally, I'd try to get a new one, or at least have it smacked back into place and welded?

Removing tbars is certainly a DIY job - if you're clever. ;) I've not done it myself, but the only bit I'm not sure on is removing the tension from the bar before you disconnect both ends. I'm sure somebody here has done that, and can give you more info than I can.

Good luck,

Scott

thanks for the comments - sorry about the pic, only had a mobile phone camera to hand when it was the lift - will try an get a better picture.

It seems (from memory) that the collar has split and the only thing holding it in place is the grip action on the bush, mind you I couldn't shift it by hand.

thanks again
