Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Have installed 2" lift blocks into my Hilux (yes i have a trac bar).

Problem i have is with the park brake cable running over the springs it rubs on the spring, with thecable under the spring the metal end catches on the spring and renders the park brake useless.

How have others overcome this?

I run them over the top of the springs no probmels yet, been like this over 12 months. They rub but have not rubed thou or on damage yet.

Grind the blocks with a dremel if possible ?

i have no hand brake becuase of this, how ever all u have to do is make up a new bracket that is higher than the one on it at the moment. only reason i havnt fixed mine yet is i still have the lift blocks to go in.

If you extend the levers on the drum for the park brake you will need to modify the next lever up the car.

Eg you extend the brake levers on the diff by lengthening them, you then need to pull 4 inches instead of the original 2 inches to apply the brake.

Might just leave it and get a sooper dooper transmission park brake thingy. Anyone used one of these?

Are you running the solid axle rear housing or IFS? Get an IFS handbrake cable if your running IFS it will have enough slack to sit freely inside the spring. Your running IFS leaves in the back arent you? Might want to get the IFS rear housing for some extra width and the handbrake cable will fit perfectly. I had trouble with the cable rubbing hard on the fuel tank when i had the solid axle cable in there with IFS rear leaves.

i just drilled a hole lower on the handbrake arm. works a treat

Has anyone had any problems with steering or anything else apart from brake cable after body lift????

sierrajim, heres a pic of my extensions for my handbrake cable.

i just cut a piece of flat and drilled three holes. middle hole in flat bar bolts to original hole for cable, one above for cable to attach to, and the bottom hole to keep the new extension from pulling inwards when handbrake was applied.

you cant see the bottom hole, but you will have to drill the handbrake arm mechanism thingy.
