I've always been reccomended Penrite HPR diesel oil for the engine. (i'm assuming urs is diesel) and use penrite equivalent for the diffs & box. No troubles so far

Redline for gearboxes - it's excellent. Penrite in mine was crap, as was Castrol.... should have spent the extra it in the first place!

Crap in what way? Did you do an oil analysis?

Gearbox grated in cold weather- basically made it a PITA to drive. Yes, it was the correct viscosity too. Castrol VMX 80 which is made for cold shift problems wasn't much better. A mix of ATF and VMX 80 was passable but the box was very noisy and still grated sometimes. Redline Shockproof Lightweight totally transformed it and the noises have all but vanished

I use Valvoline Super Diesel which seems to do a pretty good job and is a reasonable price, I did use the Penrite HPR but noticed a fair increase in fuel consumption.
cheers

Rimula X - overkill for my old bus but would meet the requirements for your engine, i get it in 20l drums, cheaper.
Do a search on magnesium and calcium soap oils, pretty sure one is good for jap motors one not so good, worked out that the Rimula X was ok and Castrol RX Super was not, it (RX) was better for american diesels (cat, cummins etc)
