spose you do have the turbo bolted on the side of it, from what i have heard any sort of diesel is expensive to rebuild, so id look at a chev v8 diesel, and the economy is very similar if driven sane.

good luck with it.

well im not sure on the price of an injector clean, but try looking up a diesel specialist, it might cost a bit more, but it will be done right the first time. make sure they set up the spray patturn for the jets, from what ive heard a corretly set up spray patturn makes a difference.

With the v8 diesel, thats what im waitng for too, i want some of that mumbo power under my hood, along with that mean @ss growl that comes with it.

Injector clean should cost you about $80 per injector. I have a 6.5L Turbo Chev in my 80. They are very nice and I get 10.5-11L/100k's. Paid 15K for the conv and that included the 80's GXL :D :finger:

I had my injectors done 3k ago. Until then they had not been touched for 150k. No more smoke at full throttle, a bit more power, much smoother - especially when cold. I also had the tappets (valve clearance) adjusted. unfortunately the top of the valves have worn grooves in the rockers, so need new rockers ($800!!) to be able to adjust them properly. I also had a compression test, which was between 525 to 550 for each cylinder - which is ok appartently and my engine is up to 230k, so yours at 180k may also be ok.
I would recomend giving your rig to a good diesel tuner do do the injectors and tappets - and maybe a compression test to see if it was worth doing the previous 2 things. He he he. Do the compression first. Being the TD 42 engine it should still be strong at 180k. If it is crap can i buy your turbo and intercooler?

if its crap I'll be getting V8 powah ... :D
I was sposed to go today to get it checked out but I got stuck into my spare bullbar and cut it all up into peices to put some tubing on ... and cut the mounts off to raise it up for the body lift .... haha bootyfab ala home job ..... will have pics of everything soon

as for the turbo .... mmmm might see if I can put it on the v8 :finger:

can't be that hard to clean injectors .... pull them apart and soak them in cleaning solvent ..... so I dunno why they would cost $80 each

Labour to do the job $60 <--- Sounds incorrect to me. I called them again, and yes $60 to do the work, now why do others charge nearly 4 times that price? That sort of difference worries me...

The RC's are a ball.

I had 4" Body and 2" Spring lift with 35" BFG's in my gq and it went eveywhere.

My 80 is getting 10" coils and 5 link front and 4 link rear atm with 38" TSL's and i'll let you know how it goes.

just in reference to the turbo stuff I’ve got a turbo and intercooler on my GU which i took of my old GQ TD42, and with the boost compensator @ 14lbs i am getting 113KW at the ground which works out to around 160-170KW at the flywheel and 4500nm of torque at the ground in 4th

have had the injectors done up to suit and the pump has just been tuned up but there are still a few more things that can be done to get more out of these babies.

and at 180 000km yours has only just run in if you don’t get over 500thou out of the block there is something wrong,

boost it up and enjoy the ride just make sure you use a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and keep it as straight as possible, ive got a stack behinde the cab which means i only have 3 90deg bends in it, instead of 6 or 7

yeah got plenty of go still but its blowin soot like crazy ... feelin sorry for the poor people behind me  :finger:

I've got a 3" exhaust system ... don't really wanna stack ... to many wankers with stacks on their lil 2wds utes here .... and i just seen a stetch dunnydore ute with stacks that don't even work ....

I'll get the injectors cleaned and see what happens

if you take the injectors out yourself it should cost you around $60-$70 each as they have just come down in price, but from the sounds of things it will be the injectors for sure, the only other thing really is the the fuel filter, and maybe the seals in the pump if is an early GQ.

its a 95 GQ ...

 swap the injectors with my old mans ones outta his ute mwahahahahahahahaha

Wanker rating = 8.2/10
