Has anyone fitted an intercooler to a turbo diesel 80 series and was it worth the effort?

I run a air to air intercooler and yes it is worth the effort.

If they didn't work then all these new 4bys coming out wouldn't have them standard.

Add a pyro in and watch the inlet charge drop - and the engine last longer...

Notice in summer how you loose boost??? bingo! not with the I/C.

try and avoid a bonnet or top moount - heat sink kills efficiency.

Pyro(meter) : Its a thermometer for your exhaust gas temperature or EGT as its usually known by.

Adding the intercooler reduces the temp and you get cooler air into your engine.

Pyro gauge - buy from a truck parts mob - cheaper. VDO is a good brand. They have full kits availabel - all you have to do is get an exhaust hookup done.
As for Intercooler - you can either get one made up custom or get an off the shelf deal. PM me if you want to be pointed in a direction.
