Gday does anyone know what lift is needed to run Q78's on a GU??
Also what overall diameter of the Q78 are??

like i told you last night maverick you will need at least 5 inches not to scrub on artic and the q78's are nearly a 36

obviously the 35.5 bit is the overall diamater of the q78 so like i said mate bring on the 5 inch kit GOOD LUCK

Yeah all good to go 5inch but i only just spent the dollars changing the coils last month and the shockers in the front. i went 4 inch coils with 78 series shockers

2inch body lift with springs you got will work, wont it ?

i would think Q78's on a toyota offset rim would be OK with a 4" lift ,
i have 315 bfg's on roh rims and a 3" lift and they dont scrub at all.and without a body lift.

I run 36" Pedes on 3" lift GU ute. Minor rubbing inside rear tray arches but would be no worse for a wagon. Heaps of guys running bigger tyres than mine on 4" lifted GUs and my tyres measure a good inch wider and taller than Q78s.

Don't listen to the big mouths, just buy em and you are commited to making them work. That's what I did and haven't looked back.

Also, I run these tyres on factory GU steel rims.

My neighbour runs q78's on his gu ute with 3" lift fine, he has also run them on a wagon with 3" lift fine also

I can get my 30"HT's to rub with a 3" lift.
When people say they will rub. On a GU the main place they will rub is the inside of the rear wheel arch. Probably just above a seat belt anchor bolt hole (ok theres one there on a SWB).
The only way to limit this is to increase the bump stops to limit the uptravel. As even a 6" lifted GQ I know of could rub a 31" tyre there.

The only other thing that might need doing is removing the mudflaps. Think I read somewhere that 36"s just catch them on the front. So either remove them or space the axle forwards 15mm.

As for the comment about lifting it heaps. If the new susp has the same travel as std. Both up and down travel. So all you have really done is space the axle away from the chassi. The top of the wheel will still tilt over enough to rub.
But as has been said before a Q78 will fit in the wheel arch.

thats probably the correct answer just get leaf springs = mo flex = no rub

Spot on here.
I run 35's with 3" lift and rubs on the inside and at the top. Now have fitted a 2" body lift as well and still rubs.

Like Turps said get yourself some radius arm spacers to push the front end forward 15mm or so, can get em from anywhere, www.bigballsoffroad.com has em for fifty bucks from memory, they're just fat expensive washers really but they help!

wouldnt mind finding a set and trying them on mine. or even some 35 Pedes if anyone in Melb has an arvo to spare...

Yes Givitabit is running Q78s on hes GU wagon, true 3 inch lift and radius arm spacer kit and extendard bump stops.
Looks good and clears no probs.

Bogged, I stole BRT's Q78's for a snow trip 18mths ago. It was the first time I had driven on an aggresive tyre. And I found them pretty good to drive on. Was surprised as a number of people said that they handle crap on-road. Well we where running late and gave the car a flogging up the hill to Toolangie and it cornered pretty well. It was a damp road also. Also drove heard on the blacktop to Jamieson. Then once aired down. They crawled nicely everywhere. Had no choice car didnt have enough power to spin them.

Wouldnt mind borrowing a set for about 20mins to just run round the block, and maybe onto a few humps to see how they scrub.. Will keep searching....

Cant help you there sorry. Everyone I know are running 35-36" simex's these days.

yea noticed that... thought cause of that there maybe more of em around due to upgrading.

shame the 34's dont come in 12.5 wide.. and 35's in 15.5 :(

but you guys all obviously have ripped front mud gaurds off?

mine with 305/70/16 mtz ripped a front mud guard off within a wk and the other still sits there but rubs like a bastard... no reall drama ive just been to lasy to rip of.. but thats with a good 3 inch... so ho they are fitting 36's is beyond me without the use of arm spacers for the diff on the front?

ive ripped my front mud gaurds on a number of occasions and i have 315/75/16 MTZ's.

I also dont have my front radius arms spaced forward either.

The rear doesnt scrub in my rear arches if so very lightly...

Nope. 36" Pedes, 3" lift, still running factory mud flaps and factory wheel arch flares.

Unless you're talking about rear (wagon). In that case, a mate runs same tyres, different rims and springs but still only 3" and all he needed was a trim of the inside of the wheel arch flare, no problem.

Both of us have bump stop extensions, mainly for shocker length more than tyre clearance.
