WE Rock Round 3 - Landcruiser Park, Jimna QLD - 1/2 October

Post by Strange Rover »

The next WE Rock event will be held at Landcruiser Mountain Park near Jimna in Queensland on the 1st and 2nd of October. This is the last round before we step into the finals at Milbrodale so we are really going to be trying to push things along.

For this round and also for the finals we will be splitting the competition into two classes - Promodified and Supermodified.

The Promodified class is a class that used to be run by Calrocs a few years ago. We will run this class as a lead in to the WE Rock classes next year. This class is very similar to the current WE Rock Legends class in that the vehicles must have -

- 2 seats, mounted side-by-side
- Maximum tire size of 37" as labeled by the tire manufacturer.
- Engine mounted forward of the driver
- Front axle steering only
- Manual suspension controls (ie. forced hydraulics or winches) are allowed in this class but may not control individual tires. They may only be used to aid movement of the entire front or rear axle.
For this class there arnt any body or chassis or steering requirements (so full tube, no body, full hydraulic steer allowed)

Supermodified is everybody else and includes rigs that have any of the following -
- single seaters
- rear engined
- rear steer
- tyres bigger than 37in
- manual individually controlled suspension (like hydraulic suspension)

The basic vehicle safty rules are as per the WE Rock rule book http://www.we-rock.cc/rulebook.html

It won't be hard for me at all, hell we could build a whole new one in that time, i was speaking for other people that may be placed in that situation.

Nope - it would be too hard for me to get the finals going if there was an october round in Victoria.

There is going to be lots of brand new rigs at this round that need a shake down before the finals (Im guessing 4 or 5 new rigs) Should be good.

Its actually all about me - basically Im spending lots of time and money to try to get something happening here.

I couldnt make a Victorian round happen - this was something that I had been working on since Round 1 this year. Its not case of thinking fawk the Victorians we dont need to include those people - I just couldnt make it happen.

I can sit here in Qld and make all the plans I want and have all the grand ideas I want about how good I can make this sport happen. The thing is this - at the end of the day I have actually do the work and organise everything, put the money up, commit to the time and run the actual event - this is the hard part - actually making it happen.

Over the last few years I have heard lots of people make lots of plans to get this sport happening - well guess what - Im out there and actually doing it and me and my family live in Queenlsand.

And anyway - what the fawk are you talking about?? This is the first WE Rock competition that we have run in Queensland?? :finger:

Way to go boys, this is gonna expand the sport a whole heap more with alot more spectators that aren't able to travel the long distance from QLD.

I know i should leave this alone, but its fun listening to how some people want to carry on.

Round 1 - Rover Park NSW
Round 2 - Bathurst NSW
Round 3 - Was going to be in VIC, now in Qld.
Finals - Milbrodale NSW

And its going to be even less for Qlders next year with 1 round in Vic, 2 in southern NSW and only one in Qld.

YUP, its all about US.

I can not see how ANYONE could knock Sam for what he is trying to do, over the past four years i have heard about Rockcrawling comps starting with promises of how huge they are going to be, but nothing ever happens  . One person in particular always mentioned about having this and having that but nothing ever happened. Now that Sam has it going all you want to do is winge.

One thing to think of is this, would OZROCK be on in October if it wasn't for WEROCK getting things moving. What i meen is that if WEROCK did not contact people in Victoria would anything have happened, would there be an event down there at all.

Now that there is, its great. It allows people to progress and get use to Rockcrawling in a competitive arena. It also creates interest for the 4wding comunity in Victoria that is realitivly new to the Rockcrawling comp scene.

I don't see what you are complaining about, the way i see it is that if Sam had not focused on getting people in Victoria going then YOU would still have no comp.

What would you prefer.

I see your point POS but i doubt others would be so understanding. :?

Now that Vic has gotten involved and getting things going down there its great to see the amount of encouragement and enthusiam

But i do think that some ppl have overlooked and forgotten the fact that it was Sam from QLD that got the ball rolling and along with Cheezy and Hobzee hosting was so close to having WEROCK next round down there.

I'm not saying that they couldnt do it on their own part but without the amount of effort and enthusiam put in by Sam, it may not of been until the future (maybe distant) that we would of seen this kind of comp taking place down there.

Good Luck with OZ ROCK  :P

Basically there should be 3 new rigs being built (that will be ready for the finals) in Sydney and if these all of these slackers dont get them built for round 3 then they are going to drive 3 of the new rigs that are being built in Brisbane. So this means that if any of the 3 rigs in Sydney get built the 3 new ones up here will be missing a driver. So yes - you can give this rig a shake down. So if you want a drive just make sure at least one of the 3 new Sydney rigs get built...

That sucks. Cancelled in VIC and then back on in QLD.

No way I can make it now... there goes WE Rock for the year... bummer.

At least since the VIC round was well advanced in planning we will get OZ Rock instead!
