Post by Wotto »

Hi

I was just wanting to know what oil people use in the rear LSD. Also would a 90 weight or a 140 weight be better??

LSX90, 140 is a bit heavy especially of you are in a cold climate.

I changed to Lubrimaxx in my IT250 when I couldnt get Castrol Super TT any more & promply melted a piston. Fuel mixtures were spot on & it hadnt blocked anything in the carby to cause it to run lean. So personally I wouldnt use it again.

Other people might have good runs with it.

I would stick to Castrol or some other name brand.

When i put and LSD under my old XR6, i ran BP's LimSlip (90 i think). It had a faulty bearing seal weeks later, and the mechanic put some other cheap sh!t replacement back into the diff. Needless to say, it never really locked up on demand as it used to. I think that provided you use a good brand/quality oil, and get a thinner viscosity (to suit the cold weather), you'll be fine.
