Half my Engine bay is missing!

Installed the K&N POD filter today - though I now realise I could have got a same size/shape in a dfferent brand for 1/3 the price from autobahn... oh well...
But that Daihatsu airbox is huge! Half my engine bay is now plain empty - can look from the passenger side through to a large patch of clear ground underneath!
Felt the performance increase immediately - though half of that is probably weight saving from the huge aitbox now on my garage floor....
On a side not, if you are in Brisbane and need a new standard air filter, I now have two so would be happy to part with one........

May look at dual batteries now drewe
Hang on to all your gear there tho in case you decide to do some decent off roading (mud, water). I can see the pod pulling in water if you hit water crossing in the wrong way...

Yeah - kept the box in case I need to sell or really use off road - but my use is limited mainly to the beach so.....
Darn it makes a difference though - am very impressed!

Good to hear its going well for your Drewe!! .. The good thing about original K+N filters is that they are re-useable (re-oil + re-use) and they are the best quality around (dont know what kinda junk the cheap asian 'race' filters will be putting into your engine and I think its worth paying a bit extra so you dont fill your engine with cardboard or whatever junk they let through)

Yeah I just finished putting my K&N pod filter on yesterday, can't say im as over the moon as you with the power up though
There is a mild increase, hopefully the MRT exhaust/extractors shape things up a little more. Ive only had it for just over a week now. Still getting used to driving a slug coming out of an 11 second 180sx heh.
My first thoughts after removing the stock box was to make up a cold air box, cant imagine the pod would be loving all the hot air under the bonnet and that damn theres plenty of room for dual battery setups!!
Cheers

I have seen a cool setup - pipe the pod to the back of the bay, build a box around the bottom and sides and put a drop intake in the back left of your bonnet - then you get the cold air from the back, as the front with radiator and like is not so good...
As mine has 200,000km's on it already, I think the performance increase of a cold air will not do too much for me!

After much hard thought and deliberation i'm going to go down a similar route. I'm going to weld up an alloy box up behind the passenger side headlight and stick the pod in that. Run some Ag pipe up in behind the grill.
I ran a similar setup on my 180sx with good results, dont see why it won't work with the feroza!
Cheers

Just don't try any water crossings - that will be like a straw
I have kept the airbox in case I ever think about it, but since the only time mine goes into 4WD is the beach at Straddie.......

careful on the mrt extractors....oh sorry hi guys. got me one of those extractors on my toy not more than 11 months and the things screwed! the bracket near the bottom end near the bellhousing doesnt hav enof adjustment on it. i kno cause mine broke in that spot. got nice hole the size of a 5 cent coin now. plus had minor probs wif idle mixture due to position of sensor. will hav to go get custom made extractors now. jus my 2 cents worth of advice.

Another happy MRT extractor owner!
Sorry to hear that, but a lot of people have issues with them. Other seem to score a good set and are very happy!?
An Applause oxy sensor has a longer wire which will help. About $80 for NTK (made by NGK) brand new.

Hey Brad, you should have just bought a drop in K&N element for the standard canister and modded the inlet piping a bit!

It just gave me the shits once too many times. Blew up at least 5 motors in the 5 years or so that I owned it. Spent more time off the road then on the road. Sick of worrying about whats going to blow up next and where I was going to pull 2k for another new motor
Then a mate and I rented an AVIS landcruiser and took it up to fraser island for a week. The 180s fate was sealed after that. I was going to get a landcruiser, driving them around the city is a bit tough. Im parking everyday at tafe and work in tiny carparks so i decided to go for something a bit smaller !
Cheers
