i can hear you cursing me as i type this so ill get to the point, on the weekend my mate and i installed a front locker, all went well....except he drilled the hole in the casing on the lower half of the diff when i was off buying the 1/4 NPT tap, will this cause any problems, i have tested the line and there are no leaks at all but im a little concerned that the fitting will be submurged in oil?
cheers(sorry GQ gods)

Surely the major concern is that the fitting will be ripped off the first time you nudge the diff into a rock? Put it on top to get it out of the road!

Couldnt you buy a plug, screw it in and redrill one in the top. That way you wont run the risk of ripping it out and loosing your oil.

i can fab a guard for it, and i will redrill the hole in time and plug the other, but i need to know if it will cause any probs with the operation of the locker?

It wont cause any probs with the operation (until it gets ripped off and spews all the oil everywhere!)

why not just plug it and redrill it while its out the car and on the bench?

crazy

couldn't agree anymore!!!
you would be running the risk of causing major problems in the future. just remove the locker assy, fit brass plug, and re drill.

mad if you don't unless you intend to use your vehicle as a highway cruiser, even still...

LOL nice work Sully :p Who was drillin? That aside, how long did it take to fit the locker? (I am looking to do the same and already have the air comp mounted)

Won't it be in oil anyhow as the insides of the diff rotate and throw oil around inside the case?
