Fitting a 1hzj 21 spline gear box to a 2h motor.

Ok we have a 2h motor with a blown gearbox and a new 1hzj gearbox without the bell.
Is it just a matter of using the 1hzj clutch kit with the 1hzj gearbox and sourcing a 1hzj bell. Anybody have a 1hjz bell in that case.
1hjz spline is 15mm longer than the 2h.

You should be able to change the input shaft and bell. Heard of people spacing the bell and using a 1hz plate with a 12ht pressureplate...or u could get a hdt for the front of it :-))))))))

Input shafts shouldn't be interchanged because the geartooth is a different form (shape) and arn't compatable with the cluster gear . The shaft will phyically fit but is noisy in operation so the life is questionable. The early box's are heaps better stronger and more reliable. If you really want to use the box make a spacer between the g/box and bell housing get a 1HZ clutch plate and the 2h pressure plate . The clutch plate's are vertually identicle appart from the spline.

That is what I thought. Thanks 80UTE.

The other thing to quantify is...when you say you have a new 1hzj box...r u refering to a r151, or does it look thesame as the old 2h box???
Somewhere along the 75 series line, they went to r series boxes as opposed to h55...might have been the 78/9 series 1hz only.
Whilst the ratios are beter on the r box, they are weak compared to the h55

Looks exactly the same as the old 2h box but different splines. Does any body know who can make a spacer up here in Qld.
