LT95 Handbrake issues/mods..

Well i have forever been having issues with my LT95 handbrake and I have finally given up on it. It works intermitantly, but wont hold the car on any type of gradient and i have to adjust it every 2nd week
I have been told it is possible to use the rear output housing off a 4speed county and replace my handbrake with one from any LT230.
I have been give a gooooood price on a cable operated disco one which should fit.
Has anyone else done this before?
Any last suggestions before I hit my handbrake with a FBH and end its life!!!????

No reason why it shouldn't work really well (if everything is in good nick - which it obviously isn't) - what is wrong with it?

NFI - I've checked the rollers, both drum and shoes are good.
Previous owner has also always had issues with it.
Bill has also looked at it and can't work it out?

i had the same problems with my stage 1,in the end i got aussie brakes to supply oversize shoes and had the drum machined to suit.now my hand brake works on the 2nd click and i trust it on a steep hill,haven't had to adjust it which has been nearly 12months.

You say the shoes are good. Could they be contaminated with oil?
Usually the problem is oil leaking from the output shaft seal, which soaks into the brake linings. Even if there is plenty of lining left the only real solution is to renew the seal and replace the linings.

Often the problem is that linkage is worn out. I have never had the problem but Graeme Cooper tells me that the pins and holes in the linkiage wear oval and then take so long to take up the slack that the brake is never fully applied , even if adjusted correctly. The fix is to take the linkage apart , weld up the holes and redrill, and weld and grind the pins down to original.
