Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Am in the proces of fitting Rear springs up front . I have just recieved 4 2 inch lifted heavy duty old man emu leaf spring. I think these are a bit hard for the front, and think i need to remove some leaves. Im just not sure which ones?? ATM they have 4 long leaves and 2 short ones. I have a bull bar and a duel battery system fitted, if this makes much difference. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks Ian

basicly the best way is trail and error try it with just 5 and 6 taken out they are called the load leafs, put the springs in and see if its to soft or to hard if its to soft add another leaf and if its to hard remove a leaf

Got the springs from ARB. Cost me $480 for the four of them.

just a thought, if your going to remove some leaves, keep in mind, the more you remove the more likely you will get diff wrap, & break unis. A wrap bar is a good idea to stop the wrap occurring. I learnt the hard way.

ARB... where?!!! Thats the cheapest I've heard from anywhere. Could you please pass on their contact phone number to me, or post it on here? That would be great

they are the dakar range and are available from all arb stores.


they are one of the cheapest on the market and to boot they have two full length main springs.........

I haven't heard of the dakar range before, what's the difference between these & the originals? Apart from being 6 pack spring (which I have also not seen before) I guess they would be fairly stiff & maybe a cheaper steel being so, well CHEAP!?

Was kinda hoping their normal 2" lifted springs were the $120 each price darn!

Daker are OME springs but not made in Aust.....

They are made overseas to the ARB specs......

The spring pack above is a heavy duty rear springs that offers 50mm lift and a constant load rating.

They are better than the standard cause they have two full length springs. The primary and secondard are full length. You remove smaller springs and keep the two full lengths to help combat axle rap........

From what I have heard from other OME Dakar users in other makes these may just be good springs when the packs are worked out......

Dakar are cheap but really, I'd still go with them compared to an unknown brand.

People have had success with cheaper brands, you gotta remember they are leaf springs - they arn't new technology so even the cheaper brands will still be good.

You gotta be a dumb carnt to spend $2500 on leaf springs though.

i don't want to here this after i've just spent $400 on Kings Spring rears included with bushes.

I was going to go OME but every time i rang the 'specialist' at artamon kept dicking me around with prices some said the nitro's wouldn't fit the front other said it would blah blah blah and each time the same spring was a different price.

I haven't installed the King Springs in yet... they are brand new in my gaurage till i get a longer size 17 socket should i sell them for like $300 or so minus the bushes and get Dakkar ones?

I say this because i was thinking about doing a RUF conversion when i swap out the fronts and i like the front and rears to be the same... and a lot of people give me a lot of good first hand feedback on there ARB's

I think use the kings and buy a set of dakars for the RUF conversion....

Time wil tell if the dakar zook springs are just as good as the orginals OME ARB springs.......

Nothing wrong with King springs - very good reputation.

I'd keep the Kings.
