help defender brake problem

Post by Rangie ute on 38'' »

hi pples, i have a 97 300 tdi and halfway up the high way yesterday and my brake pedal got really hard and brakes arnt working properly,

to explain better its normally got that spongy vacum type feel, but when u turn your eng off it gets hard as theres no vacum to work the power brakes. thats the type of feeling so you really gotta jump on it to pull er up.

however when u give plenty of revs they work normal, just when cruising or not demanding alot of vacum, the4y harden up n fail,

ive checked all vac lines then took off the line where it meets a pump like module on the side of the block. n its not even pulling enough air at idle to engage the maxi.

can ne one help , or give some advice on if its a vac pump thats shit it self or a seal on it or somthing, oh n next Q wats it going to cost.
