All,

Is time for my yearly post to anyone and everyone asking or pleading for any updated pics or information on any Bushrangers, Bushrangies or Dakar's throughout Australia, so I can update my little site.

http://www.bushy.ismad.com

Something like "Yeah, I bought one of them fang-dangled things six months ago" would be awesome news to me...

Any information or photos on anything remotely related would be great appreciated.

Dave,

There aren't too many of us out there.

I actually drove my Dakar the other day. Bloody cold but what fun.

The new engine is getting closer so expect to see some flying driveline parts!

How much are the bushrangers selling for these days?

I'm not about to fork out some $$$ or anything, but I am curious!

Lives in Brissy eh? Cheers for that info.

Yep, know what you mean about it being cold. Been driving mine to and fro a bit of late, with two parkers on and a freezer jacket over the lot. With balaclana on, and it aint too bad.

>How much are the bushrangers selling for these days?
Not overly sure. John Davis still sells both kits and complete vehicles if you've got the dosh. Am not even sure if he is still where he used to be. All of his details that I have could have easily all been changed by now. Could try looking him up under 'Xtreme Special Vehicles.

Last I heard kits were selling around the $17 to 18 thousand mark.
Dakar kits from ROVACRAFT in Perth were around the $15,000 mark 18 months ago.

Bruce Davis is no longer involved in the Bush Rangers, his brother John apparently is still building them if you want one, not cheap though.

That looks like a statement, not a question. I don't know the full story so not sure if it is 100% correct!

Laurie answered that!

When John and Bruce split, Bruce kept the rover business and John the bush ranger, custom vehicle (mostly for middle east) and active suspension business.

Johns business is called Xtreme Special Vehicles (or similar).

I am not aware of any old bush rangers or wrecks for sale, but some time ago there were some shells and bits and pieces. He lost some vehicles and stuff stored in containers during those bad bush fires - don't know if any of the bush ranger stuff was lost.

I just spoke to Bruce Davis this morning. He gave me Johns number, said he's not sure if he still has kits.
I'm looking though, wouldn't mind getting one going in the next 12 months.

There is a blue Bushie (with a 4.6 worked Leyland engine) for sale for around $23,000 at Narrabri, NSW- bloke by the name of Dennis Smith built it himself from a kit. JDM was at AqQuip one year trying to sell his kits, and managed to sell this particular kit.

Dont have it, but can get get phone numbers if need. He has been trying to sell it since 2001. His son drives it to basketball training, and back home again coupla times every week. Would have a total of about 2000 klicks on that engine. Old mate next-door neighbour dude was telling me about this only a fortnight ago. Has enough lo down torque than ya plant yer foot when in the correct gear (maybe second or third lo perhaps?), and the front wheels lift up off the ground.

I'm half tempted to buy it meself...

As for Bruce's old Dakar that is gonna be in Tuff Truck - gonna be interesting to see how it goes with the portals.

I'd have over $100,000 invested up in my Dakar.

If I was selling it now I'd be asking around $50,000. For that you'd get a lot of good stuff in a very capable unit.

$22,000 is a steal.

Only piccy I have of it.
Please note that this was the original ad that was in 4x4 Trader mag sometime in late 2000 or early 2001, hence the $50,000. It is indeed currently $23,000.

There is another one coming up for sale very very soon in Qld. Soft top, but with proper doors. Will advise when I know more.

Grey Bushie was for sale around 12 to 18 months ago, at one of the car dealerships along Parramatta Road, Sydney. Within around four months this baby had dropped from its original $120,000 to around the $65,000 mark. Don't know if it ever was sold, or if it is still sitting in the car yard.
