only want replies from people that have done this themselves, not paid someone else to do them coz that info is no good to me

ok, im planning on cutting and flipping my stock zook rims.

has anybody done this themselves ?? got any tips/pix/tech ???

You plan on using a lathe or angle grider on rollers?

On a lathe it's a piece o'piss, with an angle grinder, takes heaps of time, and near impossible to get good runout.

was just gunna use grinder.....

not all that hard, just time consuming to cut enough to separate rim from centre, whilst not going thru the rim , and to get a straight cut.

I did a pair of rims years ago, and while they ran reasonably true, on road they're a bit iffy, although for strictly off road they're good. I did a set last year on a lathe, and would not bother with the dangler again

thats all good if u got access 2 a lathe big enuf 2 turn up a 15" rim, but i dont, so ill b trying the grinder method, thanx 4 the heads up.

now that u have said how hard it is do u have any tips on how to do it ?? os should i not waste my time asking and just pay some1 ?

its best to do them in a lathe, thats how i did my 15x8s wouldnt piss around with a grinder, and u got to get the run out spot on otherwise ur gonna have dramas, or u can pay sum 1 to do em.

Have a go ya self Ben there only for offroad anyway and whats a sunny worth 2nd hand $15 not lossing much buy tring it are you and if you f@ck it ,then get some one to do it.Use a grinding disk then for the more finer grinding use a 2mm thin cutting disc and once you get the centre out use a flapper disc to tidy it up.

yeah i've gotta replace a centre in my buckled rim when i get back from qld. was planning to just manually grind it as best as i can then use a big hammer and knock it out. an air chisel might also be handy. i'll have to remove two centres and reweld one. i'll let you know how i go.

anyway on a beater zook, it would be so much cheaper to flip a set of stock rims and run 34x9.5" swampers, than to screw around with widetrack swaps (if applicable), offset rims or wheel spacers.

Mate did with a grinder, cut centres out with 3" disc for better access, then mounted centres back onto the hub, then fitted the rim onto the centre spot welded one point then just turned the rim around and lined up by eye and welded fully. Never had a problem, they were 'offroad only' but did plenty of time onroad.

i have done the same thing nam is looking at doing, it's pretty easy man. i used a 9", but a die grinder with a thin cutting wheel on it would be a much easier option. just make up a good jig to hold the centres flat when you weld them back in and there is no reason they shouldn't be perfect.
