get on ebay and have a look mate, they're around $1250 on there generally, otherwise they're about $1400 off the shelf last time I looked. Someone off here will be able to do you a better deal when they read this.

Whatever you do make sure you avoid the god awful cheap nasty chinese jobbies that ebay is plagued with at the moment!

why not go for a good 2nd hand Warn?

...depends on who you buy it off.

My 10k warn was a grand, came off a 100 series that had never been used... saved me a grand and I got the best brand out there.

Same as anything second hand, shop around and worse comes to worse, $50 for a winch service.

I have recently taken my 10 000lb winch and bar off my Rodeo due to a body lift. I have used it a couple of times when out by myself but have never used it when out with my club. My fuel economy has got better since removing it.
I was going to get a tube bar made up to suit the body lift and winch but now I think I'll just leave the winch in the garage ready for the next fourby. I'll either sell the bar or keep it and see if it will help me sell my ute (owner can modify it themselves).

Going on my experience at Gembrook on Sunday, you need both!

Handwinch to get it back on its wheels, then electric winch to get it out the boghole!!

If you're considering just a handwinch you need to borrow someone elses for a day and go and get stuck - I guarantee you'll go out the next day and buy an electric one!

hahaha, yeah, I had a mate with me that'd never been out wheelin in the scrub before. I took him out by myself just for a bit of a play one day and conversation went like this.... (mind you, I'd just had a knee reconstruction only 2 weeks before!!) (And it was in my stocko before I got my toy..)

Him: Hey go thru that... it looks really cool when you go thru deep mud and stuff...

Me: Nah, we don't have another car to snatch us if we get stuck....

Him: Ohh, this thing won't get stuck!!!!

Me: You reckon... I've been out more times than you and I know what it can and can't do....

Him: Your shitn you'll f*&$ your car aren't ya.... hahahaha

Me: OK then... just to prove a point... if we get stuck, are you gunna hand winch me out???

Him: Ok then.... deal. I still don't reckon it'll get stuck!!!

Me: ;) I'm getting this baby stuck just for the hell of it now.. HAHAHA ;) Thinks he's smart huh!!! ( well i got it stuck in mud about 3-4 inches up the doors, and it suctioned real well too!!! ;) )

ME: Well, we're stuck.. I'll help you set the hand winch up... and after that it's all yours.... hehehe

Him: No prob... let me at it!!!

25 mins later......

Him: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: this is a F*%#n joke.... why the f&%$ did you let me tell you to go thru there when you knew it wouldn't get thru...... :bad-words:

Me: Well you promised to winch it out if it got stuck..... SOOOO, I GOT IT STUCK!!!!

Well.... didn't he let me have it.... was one of the funniest things I've seen... and he knew he had to get it out too... cause he had no idea where he was and he knew I wasn't capable of doing it with my knee...... and not only that... I made him scull drag it all the way out too, without helping him by nudging it forward by riding the clutch as he winched it.

End of the day....

ME:  :D :finger:
Him: :bad-words: :finger:  :bad-words:

a mate had to winch his car to the top of the hill with a tirfor. 4hours later when he was at the top, he saw skid marks on the track. He left the bloody handbrake on.
