Hi
Straying this way for a bit of info . I have toy axles under my suzuki .
I want to spilt the cv to clean them out as they have been sitting for a while . How do you get the cv off the axle or apart ? I have heard some cv's can be tapped off at full lock so to speak , if this is the case do they go back together ok ?

Cheers

Chris

There are many methods, the two i have used and its worked are;

1. Get a mate to hold the axle section going into the cv up vertical so that the end of the cv that your hub-lock goes onto is pointing to the ground. Get a decent hammer and snot the inner part of the cv that sits on the long axle that your mate is holding downwards. If you hit hard enough it should pretty much just fall off.

2. Get a section of pipe that just fits over the axle. Get your mate again to hold the pipe vertical, slide a few inches of axle into the top of the pipe and drop it. The axle will slide into the pipe and when the cv hits the top of the pipe momentum kicks in and the axle should fall through the bottom of the pipe. Good idea to do this over a peice of wood so you dont massacre the spline on the end of the axle.

If you dont have the right size pipe then have a look at your rear wheels, just above and to the rear of them in the chassis is a x-member that is round. You can take the plastic bung out and throw the axle into it in the same manner you would with the pipe in the first paragraph. It should do the same thing, keep a broomstick handy so you can fetch the axle if it doesn't make it through the other side.
;)

Try that. :D
