Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all,
In the morning my car has trouble getting in to gear. 90 SWB Mav. I put my foot to the floor and it is very hard to get into gear. It has been getting a little bit worse everyday. But once the car has warmed up it seems fine. Execept today when coming of the freeway it was stiff again.

Is this the begining of the end for the clutch? Or is it a matter of adjusting it and check the vac hoses? Thanks all for your help.

does the clutch have any fluid in it??? and its a hydraulic clutch if i remember.. so if its gettin harder and harder and has fluid... either the master or the slave cylinder has shat itself.. and you'd need to find out which one it is...

As GQ said check the fluids etc and it could be worth changing the gearbox oil. I had a similar problem recently. I replaced the slave cylinder as it was leaking anyway but still the same. It wasn't untill I went thru a deep water hole and the problem got worse that I realised muddy water had got into the bellhousing thru a split in the clutch fork rubber and dried out the shaft where the thrust bearing slides. I got some chain lube and sprayed around the bearing while my son worked the clutch (running). All is good, the rubber was $18 and now I get 1st gear at the lights every time, cheers

Thanks guys I had a look at it at work and when I got home. The fluid was quiet a bit low and it looks like I have developed a leak around the master cylinder on the firewall. Might have got a bit of air in it cause when I pump the pedel it primes it and there is enough there to change gears

Will replace it on the weekend. Cheers

New piston kits from Nissan are pretty cheap. Cant remember the exact price. But when I fixed mine I also had to get the cylinder resleved and all up cost was about $100. Now my only problem with changing gears is that the Gearbox is stuffed.

theres another thread of mine with prices on master cyl kits.

i went the better brakes one with stainless sleeve $220, fitted on weekend.

I got a price on a replacement clutch master cylinder it was about $132 and the secondary cylinder was $28.

What would be the benifit of stainless lines? No corrosion?

mine was brake.. didnt read it correctly, not sure of differences

Thats alright I read your thread and now have ideas if I ever have to do the barke in the future.
