Hey guys,
Got an 88 throttle body vitara.... with a conrod through the block.
Bought an efi 16 valve motor at a good price without the computer etc for the bottom end....
now we r in the process of putting the carby 8 valve head on the efi bottom end......
Q. r the valves going to hit the pistons
Q. have heard from one source it will lower the compression and from another it will be higher?
Q. Do you have to change the pistons?
Thanks Braden

-People say the sierra engine is a non inteference engine and i believe the bigger 8v g16a cousin is in a boat so i guess it wouldn't
having said that i would guess on it being a higher compression so maybe it doesn't clear.. maybe if you put a bit of blutac or something on the piston and spin it with the head on lightly on hand... see if there is any marking left on it from the valves... if not i say the clearance issue is save
Then again if you did spend time swapping the pistons out you could swap them for aftermarkets of desired compression (is your old 8v block pistons still intact?)
Hope i helped somehow
Did your 1l finally go or can i still be hopeful!?

Hi,
I had a G16a motor with 16 valve pistons in it, but an 8V head, and it ran well. No probs at all.
I'm sure that's what you were hoping to hear.
So, does this mean that your 16V Vitara head and dizzy is for sale? If so, would you mind PMing me.
Regards,
Adam
