did you get a centreline alignment or a thrust alignment?

could be:

broken spring centre pin (affects axle location) (front or rear)
worn kingpin bearings
bent axle housing
dragging brake
sloppy wheel bearing
bent spring (bad castor angle)
worn out shackle/hanger bushes

and probably other things.

and at the end of the day remember it's a truck with truck suspension and steering, and you just cannot reasonably expect sports car handling.

take it to a truck aligner and ask them to go over it with a fine tooth comb but be prepared to pay for their time.

cheers

I think it was a centreline alignment. I'm doing the hubs, wheel bearings, etc shortly so that will remove some possible causes.

thanks

I have had my 1991 HZJ75 since new. Have had problems with the whell alignment since then. Had it back to Toyota several time when under warrenty to no good outcome. It always pulled to the left and oversteered to the left and under steered to the right. It also chewed out the outside edge of the left front tyre.

Have had people recommend a caster kit and others say it does not need it. The caster is 0 so although not perfect should not be an issue other than it following the ruts in the road.

The previouse set of Tyres (brigstone desert duelers) I spoke with they guy doing the wheel alighnment about what it did and he set it good. It was too long ago to remeber what he said he did but it worked. It did not chew out the tyre, it did not pull left and the steering was much better.

I just put on another set of tyres and had the wheel alignment done and here we go again. It is all bad again. It was all good until then. Why?

Any suggestions?
