Ok people here is the go, i have $5000 absolute max not a dollar more to spend. I want to fix up my engine on the GQ swb 4.2 Carb
What would you do and how much would it cost?
Inject and Turbo?
GU Motor?
V8 (if so what one)?
Any others (not diesel)
I can do some work myself but most will need to be done at a friends shop (read mates rates)
It is a daily driver and play car. Also i do some touring in it so straight gas isn't an option.
Thanks
Rob

How old is the current motor? You thinking of rebuild? Cause you wont get much change out of what you have there for a rebuild..
V8 conversions would go more than that, so would a GU donk.

Not sure on age, but feels pretty strong, i have had the car 1 year and it doesn't use any oil or water has no leaks, doesn't blow smoke. I think it is the second engine this car has had. I can get cheap motors and parts too

Do compression test etc, see how good it is.
Could be good to turbo then.. $3000ish (for diesel anyway) for a 'kit' bolt up yourself... Or supercharge, there was a thread ages ago about blowing one of them TBs
What are you favoring, engine swap, or adding to the one you have?
