GU Diff Lock - Front or Back First?

Hi all - just purchased a GU TD 3.0. Have enough moula left over to buy ONE locker, after forking out for a snorkel and a few other things. A friend of mind says to put it in the back, however I would have thought with the std LSD back there it would be better in the front.
The car will be used for moderate family camping trips with our Club, nothing too hairy. What would be your recommendation?
Also where is a good spot apart from in a roof console to put the UHF these days?
Thks.

Rear or front locker. Always attracts many different opinions. Nissan LSD is good. But it is an LSD, not a locker. I would always go a rear locker first. You generally use a locker most when going up hills, and with the wieght and gravity, most traction is at the rear. Obviously a locked diff can come in handy in other situations. Suprising how useful a locker is going downhills, etc. Remember you loose steering with a front locker.
Something to think about.
Either way, lockers are cool. All 4wds should have them

Yep, and as soon as you lift a front wheel you lose all front drive. So now your driving up a hill in 2 wheel drive (rear only). At least with a front locker you've got 3 wheel drive because all this so called gravity and weight is keeping both your rear wheels on the ground (most of the time). To me, 1 locker and a good LSD is better than only 1 locker and an open diff.

Has anyone considered or put a locker in the rear and move the LSD up the front?
Could it be done?

wont work.. different splines...
only way to do it would be to get an LSD carrier out of a MQ and with some machining.. it should bolt up... id say its more of a hassle than its worth.

i went front first and transformed the whole vehicle then thought why spend the money on a rear when the lsd works fine (11 plate clutch 4.6 from 2.8t)

In a GU front is the only way to go. Rear is a waste of money unless you go twin lockers.

why dont ya get an air locker for the rear and just get a cheaper lockright etc for the front? its only a quarter of the price. But other wise id go front.
