what can you run with 300W??

at 240 volts operation, you can run anything that draws no more than 1.25 amps (thats 1.25 amps at 240 volts not 12 volts)

an average hairdryer for instance is 1200W-1800W, so this 300W converter wont run that.....have to leave the handbrake at home!!

Depends if the inverter is a modified sine wave or a double modified sine wave or a pure sine wave. most items like computers and sensetive equipment need pure sine but depends what your run of it. even thoughs its 300w doesnt necesarly mean you can run a 300w unit of it because you need to look a the surge capacity of the inverter because most applaince's need a very high surge to start them then they settle down to there rated power they need.

Just bought one - surge 600W, constant 300W.

Just bought 3,

They run a 500 watt power drill without dying at all (on my stock MQ alternator) so I am happy.

Might open one up and see if there isn't anything I can't do to make them a bit more reliable incase they are dodgy.

They are cheap chinese shit, so I wouldn't expect it to last forever but for the price and the amount of times I will actually put a full load on it I am happy.

Probably just have to keep them cool and they will be right (ie, don't mount them cooped up behind a door panel, or if you do make sure they are ventilated.
