Re: help with early dishatsue
Frame is basically very strong and heavy for a little vehicle like this, but check the tubular crossmember in front of the rear wheels. This is where the fixed springhangers are mounted to and the can be bent or crackedzukin4life wrote: 1 is there any common things i should look out for like chassis cracks or any thing like that
You can get away with 2 inch shackles, but the short springs will increase the caster angle quite alot, so expect a different handling (but probably that's nothing to worry about cuz it handles like shiat in stock form). same goes for the rear driveshaft anglezukin4life wrote:

with 2 inch schackles you should have no problems with 30 under it ( 31 with a little rubbing)zukin4life wrote: 3 what size tyres could i fit with the shackles
hope this'll help a little

my F20 was in my family too!
ive put 2inch extended shackles on mine, a 2 inch body lift and 34" LTB swampers without any real probs.
with the extended shackles and a little cutting i recon you could fit in 31" or 32" muddies with possibly a little rubbing........ but that just means you have to cut more away

if you have any q's dont be afraid to ask, and have a good search through the F20 pics sticky topic. ive got some pics up in there about all the stuff ive done.
welcome to daihatsu!

The first thing it touches are the springs on full compression and the framerails, so use the right offset on your rims. That's for 31x10,5, ehen flexing they clear the wheelarches by 1 cm. Go larger you have to cut the wheelarches like chris said . I don't like to cut the sheetmetal but hey that's just personalChris F20 maniac wrote: with the extended shackles and a little cutting i recon you could fit in 31" or 32" muddies with possibly a little rubbing........ but that just means you have to cut more away![]()

Yip, Daihatsu made but some where rebadged as Toyota Blizzard to fill a gap in the product line up in the late 70's/early 80's.
The petrol engines are toyota's and bulletproof, but no ponies at all..
The diesel engines are rumored to be close family of the 20/22r series Yota petrol engines, although I can't verify that

the later models did come with a 5 speed, but they can be pretty hard to come by nowadays. The four speed is not too bad with the 31s, brings the revs down quite a lot. These little 1.6 will rev quite happily at 3800-4000 on the highway with no complaints - did so for years on a set of 215s.
Built, not bought.
