I was chatting to our local sarg the other week about Rodeo's as they have one same series as mine and he said to watch out with water crossings because of a foam gearbox cover .

Did I hear him right? If so where is it? (6/98 V6)

I don't know about a foam gearbox cover but there is a breather on top of your gearbox.
You can make extended breathers for your gearbox. Should make some for your diffs as well.
