high pitch noise

just wandering if anyone has any idea's. Ive got a 93 hilux with a 22r thats making an anoying high pitch noise under the bonnet.(hard to pin point exactly where.) The noise is constant in neutral(stationary) and when driving, although it stops when accelerating. Thought it may have been the water pump, but after replacing it, the noise is still there. My next guess is the bearing in the alternater, but realistically i've got no idea. Has anyone had similar problem or have an idea what it could be. Thanks for hearing my winge in advance.

Have you removed the alternator belt to see if the noise stops?

If it does then the only other thing that can be worn is the alternator as you have replaced the water pump.

Does it have a clutch fan, they can do this sometimes.

If it still does it when the fan belt is disconnected then start looking elswhere. The Input shaft bearing in the rear of the crank can give a squealing noise as well.

Without looking at it then its a bit hard to tell but this is a start to give you an idea where to start looking.

Had something kinda similar in mine, just remove 1 belt at a time. I had the power steer belt, then the air cond. belt then the fan belt. Turned out to be the tensioner pulley on the air cond.

It will generally be noisy when the foot is on the clutch, thats why I said the input (spigot), they can make all sorts of noises at all sorts of times.

Thanks fellers for the replies. I'll pull off the belts and see if i can isolate the noise. I'll let you now if i find out. Thanks again.

I had a similar problem in a old celica of mine. Turned out to be the spigot bearing.
Hope this helps.
