Pajero seatbelts

I've got to change my front seatbelts in the Paj to get blue slip because they don't retract properly when pulled out. The belts are fine, it's just the spring mechanism that's stuffed.
The best I can do is
- new $640 the pair (below trade apparently)
- wreckers want $250/ pr (and I'm wary how much better they are than what I have), and hard to find
- Repco can source aftermarket belts but nothing for Pajero- can't even fit new universal mechanism to bracket
Anyone found a cheaper solution?
It's a 91 NH Paj with grey interior.
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure the springs have failed?
A dose of silicone spray on a clean rag then rubbed well into the webbing as a lubricant
Ensure the top pivot above your shoulder is clean, they get a build up of crud and create drag..
Sheepskin seatcovers or similar can cause fluff to builr up inside side panel and create drag.
In NZ I would supply 2 belts, ex Ripco, and fit them for about $250 a pair
There are a few tricks to belts, have you got a Japanese vehicle importer locally cause they do a lot of seatbelt work and may be cheaper for you
