Now that I have your attention.
My next door neibour owns a V6 rodeo trayback, and have of late been noticeing how thirsty it is, 13.5 to 14 lt per 100ks, more if he gets up it, its also swallowing $100.00 bills each time he fills up.
"They all do that sir, its an undocumented feature" is the usual reply to isuzu v6 fuel consumption complaints, however.........
I remember reading about a mod to the airbox someone had posted on one of the many forums I read, do you think I can find it again!?? fat chance.
I wasnt paying attention as I have a diesel with a snorkle.
So does anyone else have any airbox mods for thirsty V6's?? or links to them??

Have a look here. With peak torque that high in the rev range then I can't see how you will get better economy. How about gas? Altough I read they don't like it.

I own a V6 rodeo and I knew how much fuel it chewed when I bought it. It didn't worry me to much when I was only paying $0.85/L but now it is a $80 plus exercise a week to keep it on the road.
Chiptorque at Nerang is looking at designing a piggyback computer for it at the moment. Does anyone have a copy of the ECU wiring diagram for the R9. Any help would be appreciated (and may be benificial to other owners).
P.S. I have checked the gas route and have been advised against it by several installers with some flat out refusing to do it.

check out australia4wd site in the jackaroo/rodeo forum, all the gos is there.
As i mentioned on EO, the basic stuff works well on them- foam element, cold air intake along with removal of the restrictive intake piping, along with removing the exhaust restrictors.
The best option for gas is the complete ecu driven injection package, with the second lpg injectors fitted to the manifold, but it will set you back about $3-3 1/2 thou all up.
Interceptor chips etc, dont do much for these motors as the standard ecu is a constant self learning unit and the target values in the code cant be re-written, so if you tweak the afm signal etc. it will re-adjust itsself to meet the target a/f values.
My 3,5 v6 jackaroo gets 11-12l/100 driven enthusiastically and cruising on the standard size at tyres, on the larger overgearing muddies it gets 14/100. and i'm not shy on the right boot.
My rig has 2 x 3 inch intakes to the airbox, foam unifilter, ngk iridium plugs and the exhaust restrictors removed .
the isuzu v6 has a lot of built in restriction to dampen NVH levels , so just beware it will be noisier after the mods.
