there are som eof those cheapo places that will do a car for about $500. I reckon on a 4wd that will get used and scratched etc not a bad way to go if you want to change the looks on the car.

500 should well and truly cover it, if you're completing the body work and supplying the materials!

no one in hobart will respray a car unless you pay $2000 to $6000.
funny you mention the bugs as one landed on mine on my last coat of clear. he is now fosilized.
Those prices are so cheap. That is what I would have done!!

HIDDEN BLING $ BLING $
Its OK to say that $300--$500 is a good price but remember that good qual paint will cost any where between $500 --$800 so remember the hidden costs. but go for it as i'm at the same stage F@CKIN hate wet rubbing primer but a blokes gotta do something while BIG BOTHER is on the set inside so its not so bad , I"m doing my lux blueprint blue

Where is Anna Bay
Know anywhere in Sydney that would do it for $300 ?
I was thinking matt black with no clear coat, for easy touch ups

Matt black is a cop magnet. They really don't like it as it is an unsafe colour, hard to see in inclement weather. I have had mates with matt black cars pulled up and given canaries before so probably stay away from it

that $300-$500 is to get someone to paint it after you have bought all the materials.

How about going for an original look? Sand it back and then just get it clear coated?
