SPOA for Zook in SA

Does anyone know firstly whether SPOA's are legal in SA? (I want the zook to be registered) Secondly, are there any shops around that can actually do the work in SA? Altertively does the zook need to be sent interstate to have the work done?
The reason I was looking at SPOA is because I want decent lift and articulation and want to fit 32/33 inch muddies on, without cutting into the body.

The best way is to get in touch with the relevant authourities. heresay from an internet board is probably not the safest way to go on legality issues

call the people in charge of that kinda thing, in perth its "Department for Planning & Infrastructure"
www.dpi.wa.gov.au - find or ask for their list of auto engineers, and talk to an engineer (the guy who signs his name on the fact that the vehicle is safe).
Ultimately if the engineer signs off on it you're 99% assured of it being rego'd.

I've seen heaps of SPOA hilux's around in SA & especially here in Mt Gambier, so I'm sure it's safe to say it's a 'legal' conversion for a zook. I did a bit of research on this topic a while ago but couldn't find much info on the proper legalities of it, or in regards to finding someone local to do it. Let us know what you find out!

Ah hate to point out the bleeding obvious but Hiluxes come from the factory SPOA which is an entirely different thing than modifying a vehicle from SPUA to SPOA. So I don't reckon it would be safe to the conversion on a Zook based on that info. As I said before contact the state authourities to get the definitive answer, don't rely on heresay from on internet boards.

I got told you could, it has to be engineered and it can be very expensive.
I dont think insurance will cover damage after an accident though.

He is right, i havnt seen one SPUA yet. the one with the arse in the air mite be ifs and coulnt lift the front,

the mitsubishi tritons (older models) look similar to a hilux at a glance, and are SPUA... ive been confused a few times by that =) then u see the badge..

I own a '94 triton that has rear spring under/IFS (or strut) front (whichever it is or called) These older models do look similar to a hilux body .... But I can tell them apart easily nowadays, having lived with one for about 7 years (know anyone that wants to buy a Triton in good nick? Mine's still for sale, LOL)
....getting back on topic, I will have to keep my eyes out for a SPOA zook in SA then , surely someone has done it?....
sorry, wasn't even aware of that since what Ive seen around town have been old clapped out hilux's that look like home job SPOA's (there's one here about a foot higher in the rear end, looks hilarious!) ... But, only today did I see a later 90's model Lux with a nice, professional looking SPOA, so you must be right
