G'day all i currently have 33's running 3.9 ratio's which has made a big differance in power from the search i just did i need some 4.1's i know a bloke that has a wrecked nissan not sure what year but it has 4.1's but it had been in a prang and the front tail shaft has been sheered off completly the diff is bent but the centre looks ok apart from where the pinion is sheered off just not sure if its worth getting would there be much damage internally, what kind of price should i offer him?
any info would be much appreciated
cheers paul

so basically the diff is fucked, and your only gettin the Gears? no center?
With risk of having internal damage, I would open it up first.
then go lookin for some 4.3's

the diff is ***** but the centre looks ok apart from the pinion if its all good internally how much should i offer him for front and rear even if it is just gears from the front
cheers paul

So it has snapped the the pinion of at the diff housing? If so don't waste your time because the pinion is now junk.

Bogged... in terms of factory gearing, just wanna know 33's on a manual td42 would need 4.3's ?? For a TD42 auto I thought 4.1's for FACTORY gearing on 33's is that correct or am I all wrong.. Or does rolling resistance screw around with the auto or something..

Yeah mate if looking at the centre all you see is the rubber seal if you look into it you can see where it snapped

so this pinion cant be changed with the one in my diff now ? or should i just forget about it and wait till some 4.3's come along
cheers paul

4.1s are factory with nearly all 31 inch tyres.. and the 3.9s with most of the 28 inch tyres. and that was with the tb42 whereas the td42 i think all had the 4.1's standard
4.3's are what you need to run 33's to keep standard gearing

again, if you check your compliance plte look for HG 39/HG41
Yours would have been 4.1's go 1 up from that to 4.3
for 35's 4.6 seem the go in manuals, so yea I'd say 4.3s would be best.

The pinion is junk then, 4.3s and 33" tyres would be pretty good.

if u want new Genuine Nissan $980 an end + fitting.
whatever you do, get lockers fitted at same time, as the centers come apart. Waste of $$$ otherwise, even if you have to wait to get the 4.3's fitted.
