I have a big dint across the whole underside of the petrol tank in my wt sierra. Anyone have any ideas of how i could remove the dint? Could i pull the tank out and then pull the sender out and try bash it out that way? If i did this could i damage the tank?
Cheers

provided the ding is not on a seam you should be fine

Or you can block all the outlets, and blow compressed air into it, and tap it around the edge of the ding as you do.

Compressed air works. But easier to dent again it seems. I did this to mine.
U got a NT or WT. it seems that the NT had a drain nut in the bottom. U may be able to open this and pull the dent out through this maybe??
I got dents in mine at moment but not going to play with it as the last time i did the the damn thing leaked on the seam.

thanks for the replies! its a WT. no drain plug. pitty new tanks are so expensive. might have to look into a bash plate once this is all fixed.

leave the dent in it....?
it wont be really effecting ur fuel capacity
or drain all the fuel let the vapour out and then drop in a match

It affects my fuel capacity a little (the dent is the whole width of the tank).
The other bugger is now that it has a ding in it the fuel gauge only reads to about 3/4 empty and thats it. (found out after running out of fuel the other day). Im thinking also the sender/float unit may now be restricted?
