Adapter Plate to suit Toyota Boxes

Post by *BESTY* »

Reading Topica last night, it seems Kent has got someone to make an adapter plate to mount a Toyota gearbox to the Daihatsu engine.

He reckons it will only cost around $200 to get designed and he has offered to burn it to a disc and send the design blueprints on to whomever wants to get one made. They just need to get someone to make it from the plans.

Absolutely super idea, making it better and easier to SAS the Feroza with Toyota axles. Better gearing options....Rockhoppers etc.

Sounds like a great thing.....I hope you guys think about this when deciding to SAS !!

Mate, I'm not on the list at the moment since I left ozemail.

Can you send an email to Kent and ask him to send me a copy on CD?

Mailing address is

Lot 54, Millstream Road
Jimboomba, QLD, Australia, 4280

Used to have his email address but lost it in the hard disk crash of 2003

I think with the specs, should be easy to get Castlemain Rod Shop or someone similar to belt on out...then it's just xfer and driveshafts...pretty cheap swap..

Take a look at this site. They make adaptor plates to suite toyota box's. I looked at them a while back. It looks like they might know what they are doing. Let us know how you get on

I'm pretty sure that Marks only make adapter plates for the Hilux boxes to fit behind Commodore engines and other popular engine 'upgrades'.
They don't make 'em for 'downsizing' of CC's like for a 1.6L engine :finger:

I'm not sure what bell housing Kent would be using for the adapter, probably the Toyota one rather than the Feroza one

G'Day Fella's,

Sorry, but I think you have got it back the front - Kent is looking at making an adaptor to bolt the Toyota 1.6L Engines ( 4AG range ?? ) to the Daihatsu 5-Speed - his engine was not looking good for a while, so this was going to be a cheap alternative for him.

He is probably going to have a go at me now for throwing his name around :-) By the way - he just sent me some pics of his new custom front winch bar - very nice ;-)

Later - Mike H.

PS: my website probably only has days ( hours ?? ) left to run - if anyone wants anything off it, better get in quick :-(

I was right :finger:

I am working with a machinist to make an adapter plate and pilot bearing
adapter for the 1600 EFI eingine to adapt a Toyota 5 speed and transfercase.
Estimated cost about $200.00. Once the G code is compiled I could put it on
a CD for those outside the US and it could be machined anywhere. I didn't
know if there was any interest and thought that I would throw it out to you.

take care,
Kent
