Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I heard somewhere that the factory 4.88s use a different housing than the other ratios is this a bad thing?
Would I be better to get aftermarket 4.88 gears and swap out mine?
Also lots is spoken of V6 housings on the US boards like pirate. What hiluxs came out in Aus with the beefier housings?
And are they really that much stronger that they are worth trying to hunt down?
Im just thinking stuff through before I start collecting bits for my solid axle swap.

I've been through this twice with the same company, so dont know wether there bs me or not but for the info : the V6 4.3 and 4.8 centres have a different offset in the pinion tube. Never read anything about this before even on POR, they didn't charge me anything extra for changing the housings though so I'm abit sus.

but i am pretty sure 3rd gen onwards the diffs in these models had the extra webbing on the housing and larger bearings
