TURBO PETROL 80's

Im more than likley going to turbo the old girl for more power in general. '96 mod 80's, 145,000km petrol 5spd.

Have been told that a Garret T04 ballbearing turbo and intercooler is a good combo and with a variable boost controller can run 7-8 psi round town and crank it up to 13 when its time to hall arse. (similar kit to what APS used to sell)

Generally it seems ok to have this or similar set up bolt straight on without internal mods as the bottem end appears rather tough.

I realise having it rebuild is the ultimate way but many seem to be doing it the easy way with no dramas at all........ what do you guys know of this subject please ?

I have a friend who has a 80 series motor in a toyota crown, i sold him a GT42, it pumps out over 500RWHP on std internals. They are a very tough motor and will have no problems with a turbo if tuned correctly.
I'd personally recomend a TO4E, 60-1 Front wheel in a 0.7 front cover, p-Trim rear in a 1.00A/R Turbine housing. Well that;s what i'll be putting on my 4.2 LPG Patrol, hoping for 300RWHP-should make it nice to drive on the road.
