I have a GQ SWB that I have given a 2in body lift and have had the rear sills cut. I want to get rid of the Hayman Reese tow bar that is curently under the chasis and lift the fuel tank so that it is up flush with the bottom of the chasis.
Who has done this ?
and what is involved ?

I bought a bigger tank from LRA that was modifed for the bodylift. They do it all the time.

Pete,
Mines an LRA tank, 147lt. I got it modded for the bodylift and 3or 4mm plate across the bottom (still dented though- DOH). I dont think it is 147lts though more like just over 130lt. But does make long trips so much better not having to carry jerry cans.
Cost was about $880 or something like that I will see if I can find the reciept. Or phone they do these pretty often so will be pretty quick for a quote. They even do email. They can also leave the bottom of the tank at the same hieght and add more space to the top. Think they said it was good for another 20-30ltrs.
And they are pretty easy to install. Even easier if you have a good trolley jack.

Yep done it ......well I had 1 built to suit by OUT OF TOWN 4WD the ..................
Actually I had the standard 147ltr (i think was around that ) first which was lifted to suit a 2" body lift ...but wasnt as high as wat i wanted so I went back and discussed my dilema and to my delight they said they will mod the tank to suit my request for a measley 50 bucks extra on top of wat i had already paid .....which was around the 700-800 from memory ...............
The mods consisted of croping the tank capacity back to the vicinity of around 110 ltr , the tank sits bout 2" higher closest to the the rear axle than a standard tank it then runs level horizontal to the ground for 150mm then tapers up to the back till its level with the rear crossmember ........
Best thing of all though i thought i would of had a bit of a butchered tank returned....(from the original excell build quality ) with all the changes I had asked ......upon picking the tank up .....they actually built a new tank from scratch
....Must have had an order for the other luckily
