Hi guys,
going to call 4wd systems in adelaide tomorrow regarding my LOKKA that keeps popping out the drivers front axel (well im presuming its to do with the lokka)
pops between the axel and cv joint - leeks the oil out and lets it wobble - each time i pull the axel out i put a new inner cir clip on (brand new)
the last one - i didnt even put it in 4wd mode this last time, from dirt roads and stuff and still has worked loose, it only moves about 5-10mm but enough to allow the axel to slop and let oil out.
any ideas what this could be ???
ill post a picture in a minute to show more.

thats the same pain in the asss i get every time i have to change a CV boot, and im trying to hold it up, hold it in, and put the nut on the bottom ball joint at the same time, and it always slips out, just enough to have to start all over again trying to fit the ball joint, axle, and nut all at the same time, i hate that side

itd be a pain in the asss to have it slip out all the time, i can understand your frustration, but have no solutions to your problem, sorry

Ok dude found out my problem I bet its the same as yours the dealer sold me the wrong clip for that axle. They sold me the one for the 4cyl trucks. not sure if the part # is the same for your gen 2 but here they are.
PN MB393911 is a 28 MM OD clip for the small diamter axle, 4 cyl.
MB393884 is a larger , thicker clip v6

tobad it wasn't just a clip issue for you, hmm wonder if this is what happened on yours
he's still not sure how it happened may have been a old clip caused shaft to come out and ride on the end.

i havent worn any teeth off yet - i think because i know its a problem i basically check it everytime i go out and whilst out i check it !
and when i see it has popped - i wont use 4wd till i put it back in .....
so far axel damage is none - but annoyance is darn high !!!

pulled mine day before yesterday and my spline are stripped but got a new shaft coming so there is a big differance in the clip sizes. maybe check your bearings?? there is one on the side of the diff and one on the shaft.

One other possibility is that the shaft is being pulled out at maximum droop.
Is it lifted at all??? The angles that you are now running may have the halfshaft being a bit short. Not being 100% up with the construction of the shortside, if it mounts a CV onto a flange, it may be possible to fit a spacer between the flange and the CV to prevent the axle being pulled from the shaft. I have seen this trick on some of the US rigs when they lift their IFS. Start off with a 3mm Spacer and see if this lessens the frequency of it popping out, if it does go to a 6 mm spacer then a 10mm if needed.
The very fact that this has occurred without being in 4WD (therefore no other forces involved) would indicate that it is a tension issue on the halfshaft, and not an issue with the Lokka.

awesome .. i was just talking to someone about similar scenario ... Yes it is lifted ..... just thought with a lot of others doing this would have happened to them aswell .
i think i might give that a go - thanks heaps !!!

Outer bearing on shaft not pressed on or loose on the shaft allowing the shaft to ride/vibrate out ???
