Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I need 2 new batteries and I've heard everyone talk about how good CAT batteries are. I need 700CCA. I called CAT and they told me they didn't have 700CCA in a size to suit. What CAT batteries have people fitted?

had a cat battery in a bobcat for 4 years before it died witch is pretty good concidering it is right next to the motor all ways hot when i bought my new cruiser went and put a cat battery in next day will be putting them in the boat next time i know afarmer 20 years ago thats alll he will use the one i use 4wd battery is $20.00 dearer than most brands not bad for 2years extra this part no may help 153-5656 650cca $134.53 includes gst

Travel buddie has 2 Cat battries squished in his 80 series, 1 std cycle&
1 deep/std cycle(i think.)Never has any problems, has the usual
fridge, stereo, lights ect.Stays put for a few days no probs.
i think they also have a pro-rata type warranty too.

Used CAT batteries for some time. They seemed to have a bad batch a few years ago – it appears they have sorted these issues now. Good strong battery that can handle rough conditions. These days I prefer Odyssey or Optima’s.

they are good as i use to run a cat battery in my tuff vh commy but i got mine cheap cheap as my brother is parts sales there so worked out good for me anyway i would reckon mend them to anyone. im sure u get better waranty with cat batts then what u would with any other batt.

What sort of warranty do they have? Often the "cheapies" have got better warranties from what I've seen- eg. I picked up an ABI calcium- calcium battery with a 36 month warranty for under $80!

i know this thread is old , but 798? either you mean 789 which is smaller than the 793 or you mean the 797 which is there biggest with a payload carrying capacitie of 350tonnes

and there batteries between a 769 and a 797 are pretty much the same except they use more batteries in parrall to give it more amps (oviously in series parrell to get 24v and big amps)

cat batteries have a very good name for longevity associated with 4wd and earth moving machinery just ask them

I'd sus it out tomoz at work, but I got Tafe.

I use Cat batteries exclusively in my hilux. They're great! Excellent value, heaps of power, non spill and a warranty like no other - 5 years!

being a smart ass there is actually a difference in size between the smaller trucks (eg 777) and the large ones (785+), below 785 the engines are electrically started and the batteries are 1400cc to suit, while even in a 793 there is only 2x950cca batteries as they only need to run the accessories.

From memory the 950cca battery will actually fit in my mq patrols battery box, might need a little bit of modification but it could fit. The 950's are also a maintnance free.

For battery specs, goto your cat dealer and ask for a one safe source book, or ring them.

If you get your apprenticeships with cat dealers you will appreciate the generous employee discount

Be aware that the deep cycle CAT batteries require a spike to start the recharge cycle. This is often more than than a stock alternator in a 4x4 can achieve.

So don't drain these batteries fully.

Seem to all cost the same. Seem like awesome value. If you know a Cat employee (WesTrac/ Hastings etc..) they can get it for $97.

I don't know of many places. Try the CAT dealer in your area. Where about's are you?

I called Hastings Deering today (Brisbane) and inquired about Cat batteries.. this is what I discovered

part # 175-4360
710 CCA
cycling/starting

part # 175-4370
825 CCA
starting/cycling

1000 CCA
starting

All batteries are the same dimensions, and they are as follows:
L - 328.4mm
W - 171.2mm
H - 236mm (to the top o the terminals)

no idea on weight

They use stud terminals, so if you need to, you'll need to buy screw on posts for them

The starting batteries don't like continuous deep discharge (constant winching)

I priced the 1000CCA one, and it was $132.83 gst inclusive
