Attaching Side Steps to a GU

Post by GUPovertyPack »

I have had a look in the search function for methods of attaching side steps to a GU but only been able to find one method described that involves welding to the chassis.

I am keen to avoid welding directly to the chassis if at all possible.

Has anyone else made their own side steps and attached them without welding them on. If so how did you do it?

Thanks

I had those usless Kingsley steps and I made sliders to go underneath them and they bolt around the chassis, I have since rounded the bottom corners of the plates to help when they hit rocks to slide

i would copy toughnut's and make them bolt on. by far the strongest. be a matter of 4 u bolts over tha chassis and putting the nuts on a plate nextto the box section.

U bolts are passable, but C clips from 4mm plate with high tensile bolts though he top is the best way.
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!

Thanks very much for the info. I will probably go with the C Clips rather than the Ubolt.

I now just have to buy a lot of beer for a friend so that he will build them for me.

Thanks agin :D :D
