how to make jimny rocksliders

Post by bozwon »

i made my rocksliders the weekend before last. they turned out very well and i thaught id share how i made them with everyone.

they were made from 42mm od 3.2mm wall galvanised tube.

to fit them my way a 2"+ body lift MUST be fitted

the main rail sits basicically flush with the bottom of the sill. it is from memory 1430mm long. it is the length between the guards.

there are 2 support rails that hold the bar up. these are both scolloped at the end .

the rear one was approx 300mm long and is simply slid into the chassis tube just in front if the rear tyres.

the front one had about 1mm taken off ot so it could be installed in the chassis tube behind the front tyres. IT has a slight bend in it to lift it up to where the rear bracket is so the bar will sit level to the car.

both my support tubes were welded to the car as they will not be removed and because the exo cage I have planned will be welded to the sliders.

the main slider tube is welded around the scollops.

the gal coating around all my welds was removed before welding then once cool i painted on some 'cold gal' to prevent rust before i paint the whole thing.

i will post pics asap 2 clear up any confusion from my written description
