Hey you guys,
Does anyone have experience with the McNamara front half shaft and CV joint ? As I understand it, the CVs belong to the Land Cruiser 73 and have been adapted for the Land Rover. Is that correct?
Do you think it will handle a 35" and more tyre?
At the moment in Israel the only option for heavy duty half shafts and CVs is the excellent but unreasonably expensive Maxi Drive.
I am just about to purchase front half shafts and CV joints, so would appreciate any insight you guys may have.
Thanks,
Erez

McNamara front half shafts and CV joints
No..... it's not a jeep
I am running the McNamara axles in the front of my 89 Range Rover with the modified CV's. I believe that the CV's are from a hilux. This means that Longfield CV's could be used i believe.
As far as strength goes, i haven't broken anything yet. I've been running 33's without a problem and have just got some 35's so i'll soon know whether they are strong enough. I believe that they will be - a lot of people are now running 35's and i haven't heard of many failures with either McNamara or Maxi-Drive.
As far as cost goes, i would have thought MD and McNamara would be priced very similarly.
Another option is swapping in GQ Patrol running gear.....
