ok seems to be popular motor at the moment, just wondering about the feasability of swapping one in?? i have 89 model single cab diesel 2.8. rebuilt g52 box (is this strong enough) (doubt it!!) and what about diffs? i rebuilt the rear but the front is due for a bit of attention, should i rebuild or chuck it and get something stronger?? note that i have plans to go to coils front and rear so swapping diffs is no biggy. appreciate any info. cheers

Its about a $5000 swap not including selling your old motor.

I've gone a little different to most people and left the auto in, but it still goes like sh!^ off a stick!

I'm upto about the $6k mark and doing 95% of the work myself.

Let me know how it goes with the cooling side of things. Look like we are running the same size fans and mine runs a little hot, but me thinks it not the fans......yet, still trying to working it out.

Cheers.

Is that price for a complete motor inc. uncut loom and ECU. If it's not I'd recommend finding a unit with those things. Could be a nightmare later that's all.

yeah it's no loom or ecu, comes with alt, ps pump, manifolds.
I'm not worried about the loom and ecu because i am going to use a microtech computer. they come with about 5 metres of loom and you wire it yourelf. means i don't have to spend a week sorting through the factory harness!!! there is only about 20 - 30 wires. depending on the type. it'll go hard when i am finsihed. just need to talk to the treasurer.

There is a few guys around who fiddle with the factory harness so you don't have to get grays hairs trying to work it out. Venom in Bris quoted me $900 for this.
The main advantage of the factory stuff is nice tune without needing dyno time (read: $$$$) and best fuel economy.

yep fair enough, however a microtech will cost around 1000 and i know a couple of blokes from brad jones racing who can tune it up for me. i would get a standard comp tuned up anyway, new exhaust etc...
