Inner swivel hub seals

What happens with the inner seals on the swivel hubs when doing the toy conversion, the jacmac axles are a lot larger in diameter than rover ones, causing the seal to stretch over the axle when you install it. Is there another seal to use?

loose them not needed.

I always remove and run hubs in oil.

Over fill diff by .5 litre.

So just bore the swivel hub out to fit the axle through and thats it. How can you be sure that oil is going to be in there, would it not drain out when driving?

Nope oil wont drain out.

Hub holds enough oil to lube.

over fill by .5 lt and no worries.

Make sure use hub bseal RTC 3511 I think.
from early RR as they were oil lubed.

Sorry, i ment oil would drain back into the diff housing. Surely the swivel could be machined to take a larger seal that would fit the axle?

only when on extreme angles and it wont be empty anyway.

no doubt you could fit a seal if you really wanted to.

not worth the trouble IMO.

wont have any issues

Thank you.

It won't drain out of the hubs on an angle. Think about how it is arranged.

I replaced all the seals on the RHS of my 79 RR recently.

Now I top up the swivel oil regularly, and it drains away.
It doesn't leak from the ball seal (well just a little).
However, the diff is over full.

So yes, swivel oil does get into the diff.

I guess I have a faulty (new) inner seal.

All I do is fill diff to level then jack car and add another .5 l;t to diff.

fill swivel hub as per manual.

and all is good.
