I have found a rear locker for a 3.5 Pajero which im planing on transplanting into my pajero.

The guy who is dismantling for me it cant find the locker ECU he has had a look for a faulse floor under the rear seats. Can someone please tell me where is this where it is supose to be located? It is being removed from a SWB NJ

Can you run it without the ECU?

Yes you can run it without the ECU but you will need the compressor.
All you really need is a dash switch (use something like an ARB locker switch not the factory one) and power to activate the compressor when the switch is turned on.
This will allow locker engagement at any time the factory ECU only allows engagement in low range and below 12km/hr.
The only thing you won't have with the above set up is the orange dash difflock light coming on when the locker is engaged. This is meant to tell you that the locker has physically engaged via a sensor in the diff. You can still wire it through a diode to the dash light to do the same thing.
Ian Sharpe did this also try looking in the tech archive section there's heaps of imfo there.
All you need is the diff centre and axles (with brakes) they will bolt into a lsd housing and the compressor. Use an aftermarket switch and some creative wiring and all will be sweet.

The location of the ecu is inside of the plastic panel cover of the passenger side of the rear part of the interior.
If you take the ash tray out (left rear passenger) and remove the screw that holds the ash tray surround in place you can see the little box with wires coming out of the bottom of it. Its position is a little up and a little to the rear of the ash tray hole.

This will help you to locate it.
But if want to remove it you will have to take the rear seat out and remove the bottom plastic panels .
Its time consuming but not hard to do.

Last time I checked, Nj SWB only came in 3.0L not 3.5L..... Correct me if im wrong here.

3.5L diffs are not the same as 3.0L.

Yes SWB NJ's did have 3.5's, I've got one, Its a 1994.

Must've been a Kiwi thing - mine's November '94 and only 3.0.

The manual doesn't even have specs for 3.5 SWB - Exceed only.

But we didn't get the 2.8 in a shorty, either.

Actually Scott I thought the same thing until I saw one at a wreckers a few weeks ago.
It was a swb GLX 2.8TDI so not an import.

We get the 3.0 Swb's here aswell a mate of mine just bought a 1996 3.0 Swb.

Mines a 1995 3.5 Swb

Not sure if you do in aussie but i we have a few 3.5 Swb soft tops around aswell

Anyone had experence with 35's on a 3.5? i am about to fit some mudzillas to mine anyone run into any problems?
Clearance was obviousley the first problem but i have fixed that

you will strugle with 35's. a few things to consider are gearing - paj low range is rather dismal and will strugle turning 35's. Also it will put greater stress on your front end you'll most likely start distroying stuff, bend idler arms, break tie rods, bend steering arms and smash cv's and stuff.
I was going to run 35's on mine but after a bit of research decided best to stay on 33's.

Yes, definately available in AUS. My old 95 NJ wagon was a 3.5 DOHC manual, with the triple diamond pack including ABS, Adj Shocks and Factory rear difflock. Had the big ass sun roof too, was a great vehicle but they are very rare in that config.
