do you put any bracing between them
ie like some bock section welded between the plates

i was thinking with longer shackles it maye have more flex :?: maybe good or bad i duno i would say bad as it would throw the handling out but im no expert

using 10mm x 50mm flatbar would prolly not require bracing as the standard shackels are about 35mm x 6mm. but for peace of mind i would definitly put a brace in it. (if they were to fail it could get messy)

only weld the vertical sides of the box not top and bottom.

tozook,

These are the rear setup on my brothers rig (The Bush Canary) with the above mentioned setup. They are 8" eye to eye, 75mm X 10mm with the bolt brace as showm. If you counter sink the grease nipples 5.5mm this then gives the correct clamp/crush pressure onto the pring bush.

It is sitting on 38x13x15 maxxis creepy crawlers in this shot

no, so it doesn't concentrate the stress across the shackle on sideways loading. you never weld across a member. also they warp if you do weld without clamping a spacer in there.
